Uribe 'real iffy' to make NLDS roster by Anthony DiComo | MLB.com — 4 hours ago NEW YORK -- With five days to go before he must set his National League Division Series roster, Mets manager Terry Collins called injured infielder Juan Uribe "real iffy" to make the cut. "He is still unable to do any physical stuff," Collins said before the Mets' regular-season finale against the Nationals. "We're going to see where he is on Tuesday and Wednesday, to determine if he stays here with the hospital group and continues to get therapy. If he's ready to do some baseball-activity stuff, he'll probably need to go to Florida. But that has been undecided at this time." Uribe, who hit .219 with six home runs in 44 games after coming to the Mets in a late July trade, has not played since aggravating a chest injury Sept. 25 in Cincinnati. If he is not healthy enough to make the NLDS roster, it will most likely free up a spot for outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis to make the team in his place. Other projected members of the Mets' bench include catcher Kevin Plawecki, outfielders Michael Cuddyer and Juan Lagares, and infielders Wilmer Flores and Kelly Johnson. The team has considered carrying only six relief pitchers and seven bench players, but is leaning heavily toward a more traditional six-man bench.
According to cryptic tweets from Gurnick, Peralta is still being considered for playoff roster and Jim Johnson/Frias seem unlikely
Denied home field, Mets to open NLDS in LA Collins likes club's chances against Kershaw, Greinke by Anthony DiComo | MLB.com — October 3, 2015 NEW YORK -- One indignity after another has the Mets far from worried. Shortly after Max Scherzer no-hit the Mets on Saturday night, sending them to a doubleheader sweep and their fifth straight loss, the Dodgers closed out a win over the Padres to clinch National League Division Series home-field advantage. The Mets will open the NLDS on Friday in Los Angeles, with Jacob deGrom on the mound. "We wanted to start out here at home," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "[Now] we've got to go out there. But we've played pretty good on the road lately." The Mets finished 41-40 on the road, compared to 48-32 at home with one game to play. That road record includes two wins in three games at Dodger Stadium in July. For days, Collins has talked about the potential for tricky shadows at Dodger Stadium, with the Mets anticipating an early evening local time start. He knows that will make facing Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke even more difficult, though the Mets are confident in their own pitchers -- deGrom for Game 1 and likely Noah Syndergaard for Game 2. "We're running some pretty good guys out there, too," Collins said. "You've just got to go out there, play as well as you can and grind out at-bats against them. We've played the Dodgers pretty well, so we'll get ourselves ready this week, and if it means you've got to see Kershaw and Greinke in the shadows … it'll get dark eventually."
agreed... Ken Gurnick @kengurnick 19 minutes ago Carlos Frias and Jim Johnson have not pitched since Wednesday. 4:46 PM - 4 Oct 2015 are we to deduce that simply because frias/johnson haven't pitched they're not on the roster? maybe his way of trying to appear in the know while still being non-committal
It's funny we appear to be right where we are every playoffs. Hoping Kershaw and Greinke can go 7-8 and give it to Kenley. Hope this is the year it happens!!!!
MATTINGLY: "Sorry Podsednik, but you didn't make the LDS roster." VALENTIN: "Podsednik? Are you fucken retarded?!!!" MATTINGLY: "I know you're upset Scotty, but we had to go with that Seagrams kid." DBB: "Sorry Garrett, you didn't make it either." AGON: "What?" DBB: "Yeah, it's tough when you've no longer got it. You probably should have just retired with the Angels." AGON: "You fucken idiot! Garrett Anderson is black and I'm hispanic!!!" DBB: "Wow. I'm gonna have to talk to Stan about the all racial conflict we have in the clubhouse." AGON:
