We will have to overcome some amazing double-switches from the opponent, but I think we got what it takes.
During this series, please refer to the Marlin 2nd baseman, as DG or something obscure, if you have to mention him at all...best not to at all, if it can be avoided. Thank you.
It will be interesting to see when (or if) the Marlins make Stanton part of a fire-sale. He's still relatively cheap this season and next. When they signed him, the Marlins said they were confident he would just opt-out after 2020, but I wonder if that confidence will start to wane. The portion of his contract after his opt-out is about 7/$220 million for ages 31-37. With the way teams are starting to be more hesitant to sign players over 30, that might not be the no doubt about it opt-out that the Marlins envisioned. And that assumes Stanton is still playing at his current level. Feels like a big game of Press Your Luck for the Marlins. No whammies, no whammies...
I am going to bitch about the Dodgers trading Dee Gordon the second he gets a hit. I don't care if he starts the series 0-8 before getting a hit...it's happening.
I went to a Marlins game in Miami this weekend, on Thursday actually to see Bryce. That bar they have in left field is a legit club in the middle of the stadium. Loud music, girls walking around topless. The visitors bullpen is right next to the place and the entire time the guys just stare into the club. The music is so loud the left fielder and the bullpen have to hear it the whole time. It was insane.
