The Monster presents challenges for the Dodger outfielders, who aren't very good at backing each other up on balls off the wall. That better change quickly. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...ark-dimensions-could-be-a-storyline-to-watch/
I guess the one positive is that our SS actually has significant experience at Fenway. The only player on the team with much experience there.
- The Ferguson move was a little surprising, but I understand it. Ferguson has seen a notable SSS drop in velo in the playoffs. On top of that, he was not locating his curve well at all. He was missing the zone with it thankfully, but they woulda been hangers anywhere in the K zone. Alexander being a ground ball guy, compared to Ferguson the flyball guy makes sense with this high contact club. - It has started to rain in Boston about an hour before it was expected to. It is supposed to be gone by gametime, but the belief is that conditions are going to be miserable (low 50's w/ 80% humidity). - The addition of Pomeranz is expected to be for the games started by Porcello and Eovaldi in the event that either can't make it more than a couple of innings. Pomeranz was CRUSHED by RHH and his numbers against LHH are similar until you get to SLG. Just doesn't give up a whole lot of XBH's to lefties. Right now the Dodgers will only have 1 LHH that is worthless against LHP and that is Joc, so all this talk about forcing the Dodgers hand doesn't do a whole lot of good when they will not let Pom face 4 straight lefties at any point. He is basically just a long guy that probably does not instill a shit ton of fear into the Dodgers right now.
Alexander is this great ground ball guy, yes...but he is also great at immediately putting men on and RISP. Towards the end of the season, he was very skilled at fucking up and simply not getting the job done. I watched Caleb pitch pretty damn well in his turns. I hope this move doesn't come hack to haunt us.
I honestly don't know what to think of Manny. The dude turned into Brett Butler for one play in game 7. He's weird... I wouldn't be surprised if he made an amazing play, or if he stood still while watching the rest of the team chase the ball around as the go ahead run scores.
Not really. Harper is generally really liked around the league. He plays hard(which is why a lot of people think he will eventually breakdown), but not dirty. Manny has been considered a dirty player for years, but because the O's are never really in the spotlight, even when doing well, you didn't really hear much about it. Harper gets a lot of similar shit to Manny in that they both don't really like the media and don't hide it. Never make the media your enemy as they can control your image about as well as your play can(though that is drastically changing with social media).
No, Bryce plays his ass off. And is a better baseball player. Manny probably has a higher floor and plays SS, but Bryce has a much higher ceiling offensively.
I'm not a huge Manny fan and won't be disappointed if the Dodgers take a pass on resigning him (considering how much it would cost), but one thing is for sure. If he has ball in glove and there's going to be a close play at first, I have more confidence in the result being an out than any previous Dodger shortstop, and that includes Furcal.
Beauty, and apparently a measure of hatred, is in the eye of the beholder. For years, I thought Chase Utley was the dirtiest motherfucker in the game. Biggest cheap shot artist out there. Inately, although we won't see ever see it again, he still is. But impossible to hate him for it now. It is what it is. I guess the second to none FO were up on Machado, too, since they went out there and got him. I assume his dirty rep didn't matter to them at all. And I can't help wondering how Yelich would have felt about him if his team, in it all until the bitter end for Manny, would have been successful ? He's entitled to feel as he does, of course, but the grass is...uh...dirtier on the other side of the fence.
Meh...dirty is dirty. Hard or soft...matters not, imo. I prefer lazy, myself. Not sneaky...so you can use "he just plays the game hard" as the age old excuse. Out there, plain as day. Met fans might have a different opinion. Lol.
