Seeing opposing fans on Twitter panic over this is pretty satisfying.

The New York Mets offered a higher overall value than the Dodgers, but those numbers in the first two years of Trevor Bauer's deal are massive and would make him the highest-paid player in baseball in each of those seasons. Chances of him staying for a third year are minimal.

Hopefully that means the FO break the bank for Seager and others knowing Trevor won’t be around for long.

I respect your opinion, CKWG, but it's hard for me to rank Gonsolin ahead of Urias. Sure, his 2020 regular season was eyeopening, but the way he folded in the post makes me wonder if teams started figuring him out. With Urias, we have longer-term success and we know that he can really step up in high pressure situations. Not saying that Gonsolin can't get there, but at this point there's a lot more uncertainty with him.

in one of his videos, Bauer said he was excited about this offseason as he is starting with more velo at this time than he has in the past.

In '98 the Yankees won the WS. They then signed Clemens, the first time a WS champion ever signed the reigning CY winner. After that, they won the '99 and 2000 WS as well.

This is the second time that kind of signing has occurred.

The Dodgers rotation now includes 3 Cy Young winners and Walker Buehler.

And in 2000, they traded for David Justice and kept it going

All he did was slash .305/.391/.585 for a .977 OPS. He hit 41 HRs that year. 21 for the Tribe and 20 after the trade. He was MVP of the 2000 ALCS

I think they keep Price only because it's kind of a sunk cost for the Betts trade, and any trade would probably require the Dodgers to eat most of his salary anyway.

They can bench him later in the season and being up anyone of the others, or spot start him and the others on a case by case basis to keep arma fresh for the post season.

I do think this is bye bye for JT though.

I really don't know how to set expectations for Price this year.

Negatives: He's older and possibly rusty after sitting a year. He doesn't have the best postseason record. His stats are solid but hit-or-miss over the years. He opted out last season while most played - is his heart still in the game?

Positives: When he's dialed-in, he's been great. Perhaps the year's rest will give him a livelier arm in 2021.

Regarding JT, I read one projection that the Bauer deal gives us 0.5 additional wins this year. That wouldn't justify losing Turner, IMO.

Here is a fire take. The Dodgers have been waiting to sign Turner until they knew if the get Bauer. Now they are going to shop a 3b trade with one of those pitchers and prospects

I think this exactly. Knowing the Dodgers they have already had a ton of preliminary talks with teams. If this dominoes into José Ramirez or Matt Chapman to the Dodgers, people are going to freak out.
